African-American photographer John Johnson is featured in Black & White in Black & White, Museum on Main’s new exhibit, on display Jan. 24-March 18, 2018.

PLEASANTON – In the early 20th century, a time that showed great hope of progress in race relations in America, photographer John Johnson truly captured the essence of what was possible. Primarily set in his hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska, this collection of photos is an extraordinary example of how people of all backgrounds could look past their differences and respect one another. In a period of history when different races coming together was practically unheard of, Johnson’s images tell a story of dignity and equality that is still very much relevant today.
