The California Symphony: “Pastoral Beethoven”
Sat. Jan 20, 2018 @ 8:00 pm
One event on Sun. Jan 21, 2018 at 4:00pm
WALNUT CREEK – The California Symphony presents a concert that celebrates the great outdoors with a selection of music inspired by nature.
Known as the father of Czech music, Bedřich Smetana’s “Vltava (Die Moldau)” mimics the sounds made by the river in Prague for which it is named.
Max Bruch’s “Violin Concerto No. 1” will be expertly performed by Alexi Kenney and is one of the composer’s most beloved scores.
The highlight of the performance will be Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 6”, also referred to as the “Pastoral Symphony”. Each movement’s title is a description of the nature scene that served as its inspiration.
Be sure to arrive an hour early for an insightful pre-show talk from conductor Donato Cabrera.
