Where to Give to Harvey Relief Efforts
The devastating impact of Harvey is becoming more clear with each passing day. In addition to the tragic loss of life, hundreds of thousands of homes have been damaged or destroyed, most without flood insurance. Here are a few ways to help the victims:
The American Red Cross is accepting cash donations as they work around the clock along the Gulf Coast helping the thousands of victims whose lives have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey.
For those wishing to donate to a local organization, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and County Judge Ed Emmet have established the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, administered by the Greater Houston Community Foundation.
Jacque Preble, owner of WOOF Dog Daycare and Boarding in San Ramon, has announced that she will match dollar-for-dollar all donations made to the SPCA of Texas through this campaign.
The United Way of Greater Houston is providing immediate assistance to flood victims as well as support for long-term recovery efforts.
Diaper and baby wipe donations are being requested by the Texas Diaper Bank in San Antonio. Donations can be mailed to 5416 Bandera Road, Suite 504, San Antonio, Texas, 78238.
Sauced BBQ & Spirits locations in Livermore and Walnut Creek will host a Hurricane Harvey fundraiser on Thursday, September 14. The restaurant has pledged to donate 20% of all sales on that day to the J.J. Watt Foundation. A silent auction and 50/50 raffle will also be held, with 100% of all proceeds from the auction and raffle going to the J.J. Watt Foundation.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Texas affected by this tragedy.
