FAIRFIELD – Time to get back to healthy eating habits and sushi is on our list. This featured Japanese cooking style is heart-healthy and Sushi King is one of our Fairfield favorites.
First, you’ll notice how clean, warm and inviting the atmosphere is as the chefs eagerly yell out Japanese greetings before you’re quickly seated by the staff.
Choose the inviting sushi bar surrounded with an array of fresh fish where you can chat and mingle with the chefs or grab a table to scroll the menu. Either way, you’ll be entertained with their large screen TV featuring the Asian Food Channel.
Awesome appetizers are first up, including fresh oysters from Goose Point Washington, poke dishes and spicy edamame. It was freezing out, so we started with the Miso Soup – perfectly hot and not too salty! They offer several Nigiri (raw fish over pressed rice) and Sashimi (raw fish without rice) options and tons of rolls. We dove in and ordered the Spider Fantasy Roll which was a delicious combination of yellowtail, spicy tuna, cucumber, crab meat and soft shell crab topped with crunchy tempura flakes, tobiko, green onions and their own special secret sauce. Sushi King also offers many combination plates, as well as specialty cooked items for those non-sushi eaters, lunch specials from $10.50, dinner specials from $15.95 and kids’ plates from $8.95. In addition to the top-notch food, assorted beers, wines, saké’s, tea and soft drinks are also offered. Enjoy an evening out or order your meal to go!
