UC Davis Arboretum and Community Garden
DAVIS – When you spend a day at the historic Arboretum at the University of California, Davis, you’ll learn about the importance of sustainable gardening and natural land management practices as you explore the academic richness of the University.
The Arboretum is a 100-plus acre campus that remains an important part of Patwin tribe heritage and identity. It is comprised of demonstration gardens and scientific collections, as well as the Putah Creek Riparian Reserve that is managed for teaching, research and protection of wildlife and habitats. You will find engaging and inspiring opportunities to become an environmental leader by learning about climate change and regionally appropriate landscaping.
Be sure to check out the Arboretum visitor map, where you’ll find options for three exciting walking tours through different portions of the property! Bring a lunch to enjoy in one of the Arboretum’s groves where the lawns are perfect for picnics; you might even be able to spot some of the 135 species of birds or 31 species of reptiles that call the Arboretum home.
The UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, so you’ll have every opportunity to spend a beautiful day in the sun among local, historical nature.
